Saturday, October 13, 2018, Day 8; Nuremburg, MS Treasures

I took the Nuremburg tour covering the medieval town while David when to relive the Nazi Party days of glory. We started by walking up to the Imperial Castle which provided some good overviews of the city.

The courtyard had a central building which enclosed the water well. This was a closely guarded secret for many centuries.

The castle is built on a sandstone base and is in constant need of repair.

As with Rothenburg, the city walls are mostly intact. Unlike Rothenburg, we did not walk them. Lots of half timber houses which we cheaper to build and less prone to burn.

Part of the tour included the home of Albrecht Durer, Germany's most famous painter. I had never heard of him! But, he had a neat home with an INDOOR WATER CLOSET. Not bad for 1510.

While impressive outside, the Catholic Church of Our Lady, was relatively small and simple inside.

I cannot remember the legend surrounding the golden ring on the fountain gate in the plaza outside the Church of Our Lady, but I do remember that if you spin it clockwise and make a wish, it will be granted. If you spin it counter clockwise, you will become pregnant.

Back on the bus heading to the ship, we were given a gingerbread cookie to put us to sleep.

We arrived in Vilshofen and boarded our new ship, the MS Tresures. We went through the same orientation and WiFi check in process.
